Joanna Mohr This spring is indeed made of iron. i had to use a combination of hotglue and caulk to get the installation underway. the springs stayed in okay. i would recommend getting these, make sure you have a hotglue gun and a caulk gun if you are going to install it.

Lucas Jacobi Saved me a trip to the local hardware store! Replaced a screw and some tape that the previous owners had used as a solution for a doorstop. Feels like a quality spring and makes the classic "boing", "twang", and "ting" noises when flicked. Has four main parts to it that being the screw, the mounting plate with indented cutout, the spring, and a rubber nub that's securely attached to the spring itself. The paint on the spring was still a bit tacky upon arrival between the coils and had to be snapped apart from the spring to allow it to bend freely and it does seem to flake micro metal splinters a bit so be cautious and wear gloves when interacting with it during installation. The steps to install are pretty straightforward: first, take the screw and mounting plate and affix them to the wall by screwing it in, second, using the bottom end of the main spring coil rotate into the indented cutout on the mounting plate and your done! Still working on my room so please forgive my paint job.
